Firstly, if you don't mind, let's open our readers a little secret. Your profession besides TOY. Tell us pls?

You already named it, it's a little secret. Please accept that I don't want to make my job and my company public.
I´ve already done this once…..and regretted it.

What more makes you happy in your life, your awesome romantic profession or your creativity?

Good manners and ethical values means a lot to me. To see the world and its´ beauty with my eyes. I know it seems that I am egoistic, but i've learned to spend and enjoy time with people who do live, love and think like me. I don't want to change anyone around me. Life is too short to wait until everything has turned to "the best".

Why is synthpop?

It's the music I love the most, the first music genre I was introduced to. My first 7" (vinyl) ever, was Paul Hardcastle "19" which is pure synth pop

Who inspired you to make music in this style?

As already mentioned, Paul Haurdcastle and the 80's were very inspiring but to start my own project was definitely the invincible spirit, skinny puppy and 16 Bit. Scotch, Sandra, many other projects of the 80's and, of course, Depeche Mode.

And who inspires you today?

Many artists! For example Faithless, ATB, Lana Del Rey, Royksopp, Editors, White Lies and many more.
But also people, events, atmospheres and, of course, PAIN and LOVE.

In your album was a great song, sung by Steffen (the sky is the limit) . Who invented to invite him?

Together DE/VISION and T.O.Y. toured Europe in 2001. We played 28 shows all over Europe, spend lots of time with each other while traveling and became friends.

Who wrote this song? How did this happen?

I wrote this song immediately after the tour. Maybe inspired by the de/vision sound, listening to it almost a whole month, day by day, again and again It was the first song I wrote after this tour and after finishing it, Steffen came around and told me that he liked it a lot. There was just a simple question. "Can you imagine a feat. Steffen Keth collaboration on our next T.O.Y. -Album "White Lies". The answer was YES!

At one Moscow concert De/Vision invited you on stage. You chose the song "The End", why?

Steffen joined us on stage during a T.O.Y. show in Moscow years ago. He was singing "the sky is the limit" with us. Now it was time for a revenge. Steffen asked me if I could imagine singing one song with them during their festival gig in Moscow.
"The End" is a very nice one, so I chose this song to perform live.

Btw, Your voice is so incredible, really. Do you have a favorite popular song, which you would like to do as cover version (as Martin Gore in Counterfeit)?

Maybe it sounds a little odd, but my favorite one on Karaoke parties is "White Flag" - Dido!
My voice fits into this song incredibly good. Maybe I am going to record a cover version of it someday.

What the future do you see for yourself today? TOY and synthpop?

Hopefully, the new T.O.Y. Album "Pain is Love" will be a success. A success for us and the scene. We really enjoy playing live shows. Unfortunately, many of the promoters always book the same acts, year by year. I hope we will play more live shows all over the world.

Or maybe a new project in other style?

Major priority is to finish the album now. After this, I guess we will play more live shows to promote the album. It depends if the album will be a success or not if I want to continue T.O.Y. or decide to start a new project….beside T.O.Y. or instead of. Not sure. But I love T.O.Y. and I love our fans who supported the bands during the last 15 years.

Thank you, Volker, we wish you all the best and many many awesome new songs of TOY!
