Hi, Steffen and Thomas! It's so nice, that you took some time for a couple of questions! During the last year you were very busy – there was the Best Of Tour in last fall and the US Tour in the summer before. What's your conclusion, when you look back on the Best Of Tour?
Yes, there's lots going on and right now we're just enjoying the bit more calm moments. Even though it's never really calm around us. As part of the Best Of Tour we could realize things with help from our fans (pledge music campaign), which would otherwise never be possible. With actual CD sales and normal concerts you are not earning as much money as before and we did never belong to the big earners anyway.
Meanwhile the Best Of Shows are over more than a year but it was a great atmosphere to present a 25 year band history on stage.
On tour in north- and south america there's highs and lows like always. Sometimes we played in places or in clubs, which we would never take a step in and the number of people in the audience are naturally less than in europe but right down to few exceptions we had a very fine time and we also saw much of the country. Especially the landscape has left a lasting impression on me and also the willingness of the crew to go to their limits.
There was also the pledge campaign. Fans got the possibility to buy some treasures and rarities beside the CDs and DVDs of the Best Of Tour. How went the campaign for you in review?
The campaign allowed us to realize things for which we never had enough money in advance. We are very grateful to all of our fans and all people, that took part of the campaign. It meant much work for us because it was completely new territory for us and we didn't know where things are headed.
Many fans didn't know how to handle it, but when you realize how many bands nowadays are doing the same thing we don't need to be ashamed of this type of financing.
We did not become rich with the campaign and earn money only now through the further sale of various products, but it has expanded the experience tremendously. For the moment we don't know wether we will make a campaign again... also we're getting out of rarities.
The DVD is really nice, particulary the “Road Movie” which gives a very informativ view backstage for fans. Can you tell us something about its development process, how much material was available and how did you decide what to choose for the DVD?
Right, everyone really worked flat out and we created something very nice. Again, our thank goes to everyone and of course especially to all our fans and benefactors. We just don't know directly how much material we had, but we had very much of it. We delegated the preselection to Guido Fricke, otherwise we would still be sitting on it *gg * . Previously we have discussed various things, of course, although we had to concentrate on Leipzig for the actual concert recording, because the imagery of Berlin and Frankfurt was not really useful. We would have liked it otherwise, but it just wasn't possible.
For the anniversary concert of Camouflage in february there was a common surprise appearance with you. How did this come about?
Camouflage came to us when we played together on the same festival and we talked about it and of course we accepted at once. Markus Meyn and me took over the preselection of the songs and it was a really big moment standing together on stage with the guys. Probably some of you remember us playing 1991 two shows as pregroup for Camouflage. It was a really great honour for us, because we get along very well.
Can you tell something about your plans in 2015?
Currently the work on our own record company is in the foreground. On 09.01. 2015 we will release and promote the first single of an american artist. Naturally we hope, that you will love this beautiful song just as we do. He is a really gifted singer.
Also we are in negotiation with another band to release their upcoming CD. Actually everthing is complete, there is now only to contractual things.
With De/Vision we're taking a little creative break, because we don't know how intensive the promotion of the upcoming releases will be. Wether there will be a new DE/Vision album in 2015 is unfortunately not yet clear.
We thank you for the interview and wish you pleasant holidays and have fun on the upcoming concerts!
Same to you and we hope that you will join our upcoming shows in december numerously despite of the holidays!
